Spain Policies Of Signal Jammer Devices And Major Operators
The Use Of Cellular Signal Jammers Is Strictly Restricted In Spain
- Legal restrictions: The use of signal blocker jammers is illegal under Spanish communications laws and regulations. The use of signal jammers is considered interference with public radio communications under the Spanish Radio Communications Act and related regulations.
- Permits and approvals: Even in certain specific cases, such as prisons or military facilities, the use of cell phone signal jammers requires a special permit from the Spanish National Market and Competition Commission (CNMC). These permits are often difficult to obtain, and in certain special cases, such as facilities related to national security, signal jammers are specifically authorized.
Example: Thousands of people are killed every year in Europe in road traffic accidents caused by speeding. Speed cameras are one of the most effective tools in the fight against car theft on the road. However, many drivers try to jam them with radar detectors and signal jammers. These devices are illegal in many EU countries. Spain, as one of the EU member states, prohibits the use of radar detectors and signal jammers. Using a radar detector may result in a fine of €200 and three penalty points. If a driver is found carrying a jammer, he or she will face a fine of €6,000 and six penalty points.
