Technology modernization to fight electronic warfare
British engineers are modernizing the technology of Ukrainian drones to improve their ability to resist electronic warfare interference from Russian military signal jammers. According to Reuters, Evolve Dynamics is developing alternative radio link algorithms to make it more difficult for Russia to interfere with the signals of Ukrainian surveillance drones. The company's CEO Mike Dewisted called it an ongoing confrontation.
Continuous improvement to maintain advantage
Evolve Dynamics has upgraded its Sky Mantis drone 85 times in the past two and a half years, providing parts and software directly to the Ukrainian military to transform drones where possible. Dewisted said: "We are adding technology to existing drones to transform them. This may be a change in software or hardware."
International support and domestic production
Ukraine's drone program has been supported by international allies, and at the same time, Ukraine is also strengthening drone production. Currently, about 200 companies in Ukraine produce unmanned systems, of which about 50 have obtained permission from the Ministry of Defense and provide various drones to the military. The Kyiv city government plans to establish a municipal enterprise to produce drones, and Prime Minister Denis Shmyhal said that 50% of the arms procurement budget will be used to support domestic producers. This move is aimed at enhancing national defense capabilities and reducing dependence on foreign arms imports.
Broad strategy to enhance national defense
Ukraine's drone production and technology upgrade plan is part of its broader national defense strategy. By improving its independent research and development and production capabilities, Ukraine hopes to maintain its technological advantage in the face of Russian military threats and reduce its dependence on external resources.
