New Drone Weapon
US special forces have recently acquired a new secret weapon - the RQ-11 Raven drone. This small hand-fired drone was developed for the US military to effectively deal with insurgents. Known as "Project Bumblebee", it is lightweight, relatively quiet and highly efficient, and can jam enemy communications and GPS signals.
Jamming Communications and GPS Signals
Imagine how critical it is to jam enemy communications when performing missions deep in enemy territory. The Bumblebee drone is capable of blocking signals from cell phones, walkie-talkies and other radio devices, as well as jamming GPS signals, and even covering entire cities, achieve the same effect as a military signal jammer. This technology paralyzes the enemy's communication system, greatly weakening its combat capabilities.
Pentagon's Secret Plan
While the specific details of "Project Bumblebee" are still unclear, a Pentagon budget document reveals some information. The Office of the Secretary of Defense's interagency R&D budget estimate describes the Hornet Project as "an advanced, hand-launched unmanned aerial system (UAS) that can be used by forward deployed personnel to intercept and disrupt enemy electronic capabilities in a contested environment."
The strategic significance of drones
This drone technology can not only directly affect the enemy's combat command system, but also provide important tactical support to front-line troops. By interfering with enemy communications and navigation systems, the Hornet drone has become a powerful weapon for special forces to perform missions in complex environments.
