Quick Police Action and Suspect Arrest

  • Police quickly launched an investigation and found a vehicle matching the description of the Jeep through witness descriptions and the FLOCK camera system. Near Highway 41, police found and arrested the driver of the vehicle, Jaime Yovany Riquelme Riveras.
  • During a search of the vehicle, police found a signal jammer device, which is specifically designed to interfere with Wi-Fi and cellular signals. Under federal law, the use of signal jammer blocker device is illegal. Once activated, cameras and other security equipment that rely on Wi-Fi or cellular signals will stop working.

Suspect's background and cooperation with police

Suspect Riveras told police he was traveling from St. Louis, Missouri to Orlando, Florida, and denied stopping in the Evansville area. Police are working with federal law enforcement to pursue additional charges related to the signal jamming device.

Sheriff Noah Robinson said even if criminals are equipped with the latest technology, they are still no match for some quick-thinking homeowners and attentive sheriffs. He thanked the Cambridge Village Homeowners Association for its willingness to try FLOCK and work with the Sheriff's Office and believes the system will continue to pay off in the future.
